About Us
My name is Sommer Pedersen, and I’m a co-owner of Pioneer Pharmacy together with my husband, Michael Pedersen, a Marine Corps veteran. I was the pharmacy manager at the Safeway pharmacy in Riverton from 2010 until it closed in 2017.
I had been dreaming about opening my pharmacy, and when I lost my job due to Safeway closing I took the opportunity to give it a try. I thought Riverton could use a new, locally-owned pharmacy after the closure of the K-Mart and Safeway pharmacies.
Pioneer Pharmacy opened at the end of 2019. It was named after the first pharmacy to open in Riverton. I also chose this name because I want to pioneer new services such as point-of-care labs and pharmacogenomic testing. My vision is to help people improve their health and prevent diseases instead of just adding more and more medications as their health continually declines.
Our staff is wonderful and knowledgeable. We know the importance of excellent customer service. Our patients are neighbors, not just numbers.
